At the end of 2019, I promised to do better in 2020. Well … it’s probably safe to say that we’ve all had a pretty topsy-turvy year. 2020 didn’t go as planned for many of us. Still, when I look back on this year, I’m happy with what I’ve achieved.
Writing and publishing
With my plans for 2020, I had a few titles on my list that I wanted to work on. Check out my 2019 wrap up post to see the goals I set.
So, let’s see how I fared:
• Chasing Neve, my Snow White reimaging, was published on March 31 in eBook and paperback. The paperback design is something I’m really proud of.
• False Princess, my reimagining of The Goose Girl, was also published this year, but a little later than I had originally wanted. It came out on October 12 in eBook. I’m still trying to find time to get the paperback uploaded.
• Alice in Dreamland has morphed into something different from my initial idea. It’s still a three book series, but it’s now a mash up of my own versions of Wonderland and Neverland. Book one is drafted and I’ve started drafting book two.
• See, Here’s the Thing, part five of All the Things, is still where it was twelve months ago. I’ve had no time to even look at completing this project.
• Date With Death was my ongoing dystopian story exclusive to newsletter subscribers. I made the decision to stop working on this as interest was low.
• I also worked on two projects that were not originally planned. Dance of Wishes appeared in the Princess Bachelorette box set, which is no longer available, and Winter Flame appeared in the Fairytale Christmas box set which is currently available in KU.
Reading
My original goal was to read two books a month. To date I have read 38 books, so I’m ahead.
Plans for 2021
My main focus for next year will be my Wonderland/Neverland books. If I look back at my track record, I seem to be able to release around three titles a year, so I’ll hopefully be able to bring you this series by the close of 2021. I do have a lot of story ideas, and writing projects at various stages, so some of them may get some attention as well. I would also like to add more titles to my Happily Ever After fairy tale series.
Thanks so much for your ongoing support of my writing. I’d like to wish you a happy and safe festive season. I hope 2021 brings you much joy, and that you achieve what you set out to do.
Happy reading,
K. A. xxx
